Higher Hiring Months – This Season’s Employment Trends

Each industry has its own busy hiring times and business cycles, but certain times of year are particularly good for job hunting in every field. Right now is one of them.

Hiring slows down in July before picking up at the end of August and reaching a peak in November. Statistics show that three of the year’s top hiring months are late September, October, and November. So, what are the employment statistics and upcoming trends that you should know for this hiring this season?

ADP’s National Employment Report shows 213,000 jobs were added in September 2014. Professional and business services, retail trade, and health care added jobs. Small businesses (1-49 employees) increased by 88,000, medium businesses (50-499 employees) increased by 48,000, and large businesses (500 or more employees) increased by 77,000.

Employment rates are rising across the board. So, whether or not your company is actively recruiting, your professional area is most likely going to be affected.

In September alone, professional and business services rose by 81,000. Employment services continued to add jobs, gaining a total of 285,000 over the year, largely in temporary services. Management, technical consulting, architectural, and engineering services also added jobs last month.

Looking forward, a survey from the Society for Human Resource Management found that a net of 45.4 percent of manufacturers will add jobs this October and continue to grow in November. These predictions suggests that volume recruiting is going to spike as we approach the holiday season. Increases in hiring present great opportunities for companies to use technology to help make the process more efficient.

According to a survey, 63 percent of HR managers said their company uses video in their interview process, which is up 14 percent from the previous year.

This trend is expected to continue to grow, especially during peak hiring months such as October and November.
