10 Craziest Interview Questions We’ve Been Asked

Esteban Gomez | January 11, 2013

You may think bizarre questions are irrelevant in an interview, but they’re actually a way for interviewers to assess how you think. Being asked a bizarre question is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your originality and thought process. This is your chance to show you’re different than other candidates!

To help you get in the practice of thinking about a problem before answering, I’ve asked my fellow interviewstream employees to help me create a list of the craziest questions we’ve been asked or have asked candidates.

  1. Tell me why I should form a smoking habit.
  2. If you could any part of the Big Mac sandwich what would you be? Why?
  3. Are you a hipster?
  4. What’s the last thing you do before bed?
  5. At one interview, I wasn’t asked any questions. The guy just told me how stressed he is about his company’s financial stability.
  6. What does your favorite color smell like?
  7. What type of tree would you like to be?
  8. What do you think it would be like to live in a house made of glass?
  9. What is the one place you would take me if I visited your hometown?
  10. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever been asked to do in a job?

How would you answer these questions? What’s the weirdest interview question you’ve been asked?
