Cobb County School District is a K-12 school district that serves the Atlanta Metropolitan area. It is the second largest school district in Georgia and one of the largest in the country. With over 105,000 students and an 87.4% graduation rate, Cobb County is accomplishing its vision as a school district of excellence where all students succeed.


Cobb County School District has over 7,000 teachers and almost 18,000 total staff members. Their hiring teams wanted a better way to bring their teachers’ resumes to life. Cobb County’s Director of HR Systems, Abner Breban, had worked with another video interviewing provider at his previous school district and wanted to incorporate video interviews into Cobb County School District’s hiring process.

He was interested in a video interviewing solution that integrated with his applicant tracking system, PowerSchool, and discovered interviewstream at a PowerSchool user conference. They chose interviewstream because of the price point – a big factor for K-12 school districts.


Cobb County uses interviewstream to screen teacher candidates for their 100+ schools. Within the PowerSchool ATS, as recruiters are looking at candidates they just have to click a link in the candidate’s profile to view the candidate’s video interview. Having video interviewing software connect so well to their ATS saves them time training recruiters on another platform.

Within their ATS, Abner Breban set up an automation to send a video interview invitation to every candidate who has submitted an application within a specified time span and has the qualifications necessary to work at Cobb County Schools. Having an automated interviewing process has helped him and other recruiters screen more candidates so they can choose the perfect person for the position.
